The Imperial Cricket Conference was founded on 15 June 1909 at Lord's, London, by representatives of the three Test-playing nations of the time — England, Australia and South Africa. It was the original incarnation of what would, through two subsequent renaming, eventually become the International Cricket Council. The 1909 founding established the world's first formal cricket-governance body and laid the foundation for organised international cricket as we know it today.
