The reporting cited unnamed RR senior-leadership sources discussing whether Parag — at 24, in his first IPL captaincy season, with poor team form and now a public Code of Conduct breach on his record — should continue as captain through the rest of the season.

Two names emerged as the alternative options. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the senior left-handed opener, was the in-house succession candidate. Ravindra Jadeja, the senior all-rounder with India captaincy experience and the long franchise tenure to anchor a captaincy transition, was the experienced-hand alternative.
